Phil Gretzkowski's Excellent Restoration

Introduced in 1906, the Gas Cannon is the earliest known carbide cannon.

When I first researched my book, 1912 was the accepted date that the carbide cannon was first marketed, but there was no proof. Now a document has come to light showing the Gas Cannon being marketed in 1906 by the Warner Motor Co.

The letter is not dated, but is stamped as being received June 15, 1906.

Many of these cannons have survived, and until the discovery of an original Gas Cannon booklet, the toy was not known to be a carbide cannon at all with any connection to Big-Bang.
